In February 2021, the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code underwent amendments to incorporate fresh regulations pertaining to allergen labeling in food products. The newly introduced legislation, known as PEAL, mandates the inclusion of allergens on food labels in a prescribed format and placement, employing clear and uncomplicated English terms. Businesses must comply with PEAL by February 2024.
